A New Home – a fairytale group process (in English)

About The Event
Growing roots in a new place requires lots of courage and persistence. It sometimes feels like having to start everything all over again: 'I had my career, my social circles, my comfortable life before - now I must start building this again...'. Of course, being an expat is ultimately a truly enriching and rewarding experience – the time comes when one realizes that in their new life, they have reached new heights, ones they had never thought imaginable before! But in order to blossom, one must first feel securely rooted and grounded, and in this May workshop, it is this grounding that we will work with.
Fairytales teach us that there is abundance in the world, and wherever we go in life, we will find exactly what we need - as long as we stay persistent and don't resist change. On this occasion, we will work with a Grimm fairytale, which will inspire us and fill us with energy and hope to keep growing those roots into this (sometimes hard, but definitely fertile) Berlin soil. We will listen to the fairytale, talk and play with art and movement. With the support of a fairytale counselor and your fellow travelers, you will have the chance to explore what some of your current challenges are and what resources you can count on along your way. And you'll be surrounded by other people who are going through similar experiences – a great first step to expanding those social circles...
Fairytale counseling is a unique methodology that works with symbols and fairytales and integrates elements of narrative and art therapy. We will work with the fairytale, play with art and support each other – and you'll leave the workshop feeling refreshed, re-inspired and reenergized, more reassured about your Berlin life.
The number of participants is very limited (maximum 10 people) to make it comfortable, and the group will provide a warm, welcoming space to all. Tea and some cookies will be provided - but of course you are welcome to treat the group with snacks if you feel like contributing :) All other practical information e.g. about the location (parking, public transport, etc.) is available in the FAQ section of this website.
The event is approximately 3 hours long. You can attend the first hour free of charge (but you still need to register in advance!) here you can get a taste of the methodology, get to know the group and participate in some warm-up exercises. If you decide to stay for the second part of the workshop – the deeper dive into the fairytale and art methodology – then the prices are: 30 Eur/person or 50 Eur/couple or bring-a-friend (=25 Eur each).
